Overview
“What Would Jesus Do?” was a very popular phrase among Christians for nearly a decade during the late 1990s and early 2000s. One could easily find all kinds of merchandise from t-shirts to wristbands with the letters WWJD prominently emblazoned upon them. Often when giving advice to another person regarding a difficult life situation, someone may attempt to offer challenge and conviction by asking the rhetorical question, “Now, if Jesus were in this situation, what would He do?”
Although highly popular and well-intended, this question is not the appropriate one to ask because it attempts to provide the right answer while asking the wrong question. Instead of asking “What would Jesus do?” one should pose the inquiry “What did Jesus say?”
In this sermon series, Pastor Webb attempts to help us discover what Jesus said by exploring Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount as recorded in Matthew chapters 5-7. In these three chapters, Jesus outlines key principles that should govern the lives of all believers who have made a commitment to follow Christ.
